Os dias da semanaThe days of the week
The days of the week: segunda, terça, quarta, quinta, sexta (plus sábado and domingo). In Portuguese they are written in lowercase. For "on Monday" you do NOT use a bare preposition like "em"; you use the contraction "na" (em + a): Tenho aula na segunda. The question is Que dia é hoje? — Hoje é segunda. New vocabulary: dia, semana, segunda, terça, quarta, quinta, sexta, hoje, amanhã, fim de semana.

The days and "na segunda"
Explanation
The weekdays are feminine (a segunda-feira) and written in lowercase; in speech "-feira" is dropped: segunda, terça, quarta, quinta, sexta. Sábado and domingo are masculine. To say "on Monday", Portuguese uses the contraction "na" (em + a): Tenho aula na segunda. You do NOT say "em segunda". In the plural, "às segundas" = "every Monday". To ask the day: Que dia é hoje? — Hoje é quarta (no article when it's today's day). "Hoje" and "amanhã" take no preposition.
