Grammar
Adj/V + 了 — change of state
Explanation
Adjective or verb + 了 marks a NEW situation — something changed. 病了 = became sick (was healthy before). 好了 = got better. 累了 / 饿了 / 渴了 (got tired / hungry / thirsty). This 了 sits at the end of the sentence and means "different now than before". Negate with 没 (没病 / 没好).
Examples
- 我病了. I've gotten sick.
- 我累了. I'm tired (now).
- 他好了. He got better.
- 天气冷了. The weather has turned cold.
