C'est ma familleThis is my family
The possessives mon/ma, ton/ta, son/sa and the demonstratives ce/cette. The possessive agrees with the NOUN possessed, not the owner: mon père (masculine), ma mère (feminine). Note: before a feminine noun starting with a vowel, you say mon (mon amie). The demonstrative agrees too: ce frère, cette famille. New vocabulary: family, father, mother, child, big, small.

Possessives + ce/cette
Explanation
Possessives agree with the NOUN possessed, not the owner: mon père (père is masculine), ma mère (mère is feminine), ton frère, ta sœur. This is the opposite of English, where "his/her" follows the owner. Useful trap: before a feminine noun beginning with a vowel, you say mon, not ma (mon amie, mon enfant) — for the ear. The demonstrative ce/cette follows the same logic: ce frère, cette famille.
