Les jours de la semaineThe days of the week
The days of the week: lundi, mardi, mercredi, jeudi, vendredi (plus samedi and dimanche). In French they are written in lowercase and are masculine. For "on Mondays" (habitual, every Monday) you add the article: J'ai cours le lundi. For one specific day, you add NO preposition: "Je viens lundi" (not "sur lundi"). You ask: Quel jour sommes-nous? — Aujourd'hui, c'est lundi. New vocabulary: jour, semaine, lundi, mardi, mercredi, jeudi, vendredi, aujourd'hui, demain, week-end.

The days: "le lundi" vs "lundi"
Explanation
The days are masculine and written in lowercase: lundi, mardi, mercredi, jeudi, vendredi, samedi, dimanche. Key point: "le lundi" (with the article) means "every Monday" (habit) → Le lundi, j'ai cours. Without the article, "lundi" means the specific coming Monday → Je viens lundi. Above all, French uses NO preposition like "sur": you never say "sur lundi" — just "lundi" or "le lundi". To ask: Quel jour sommes-nous? — Aujourd'hui, c'est mercredi. "Aujourd'hui" and "demain" take no article.
