Approximate numbers: 大概 / 左右 / adjacent numerals (三74)

Explanation

Three ways to say "about how many": (1) 大概 + number (大概两千块 / 大概三十岁). (2) number + 左右 (三十岁左右 / 八点左右). (3) adjacent numerals together (五六个 / 八九十). For exam scores: 大概八十分 / 八九十分.

Examples

这个手机大概两千块. This phone is about 2000 yuan.
我的成绩八十分左右. My score is around 80.

(也)…, 也… — coordinate clauses (三60)

Explanation

Grammar-01 was approximate numbers. Here "也…也…" places two parallel facts together: "both are so". 成绩也好, 心情也好 (grades good, mood good too). 篮球他喜欢, 排球他也喜欢. The two clauses are parallel in structure.

Examples

成绩也好, 心情也好. Grades are good, and so is the mood.
篮球他喜欢, 排球他也喜欢. He likes basketball, and volleyball too.
我也累, 也饿. I'm both tired and hungry.
这个菜也好吃, 也便宜. This dish is both tasty and cheap.
