Final chapter: everything comes together. Greeting, introducing yourself, giving your age with avoir, counting and making plurals, pointing at objects (Qu'est-ce que c'est?) and asking the location (Où est…?) — in one conversation. Social formulas: "Enchanté", "Bonne journée". The tu/vous choice returns, and we meet the negation "ne… pas" (Je ne sais pas). New vocabulary: enchanté, encore, ensemble, tout le monde, comprendre, parler, savoir, vouloir, amour, bonne journée. Culture section: French politeness.

Explanation
This chapter gathers Book 1. Remember the pillars. (1) "être" for identity/origin: Je suis Mike, je suis des États-Unis, c'est une montre. (2) Age with "avoir", not "être": J'ai vingt et un ans. (3) Gender rules: le/un (m), la/une (f), and article and adjective agree; in the plural: les/des + -s (often silent). (4) For a thing: "Qu'est-ce que c'est?" + "C'est un/une…". (5) For location: "Où est…?" + sur/sous/dans. And choose the register: "tu" with friends, "vous" with the teacher. A little new thing: negation goes around the verb, "ne… pas": Je ne sais pas. Je ne comprends pas.

French politeness follows clear rituals — and conversation, even friendly debate, is a valued art.
Always "Bonjour" first
Entering a shop, café, or office, you greet with "Bonjour (madame/monsieur)" BEFORE anything else. Skipping it reads as rude — it's the single most important French politeness rule.
Madame / Monsieur
With people you don't know, add "madame" or "monsieur" to greetings and thanks: "Bonjour, madame", "Merci, monsieur". These words carry the respect — and "vous" goes with them.
Debate is a pleasure
The French enjoy discussion, and even disagreeing: a lively exchange of opinions over dinner is sociable, not hostile. Directness in opinions is normal. To soften a request, you say "s'il vous plaît", "je voudrais…".
Congratulations! You've finished Book 1. You can greet, introduce yourself, count, point at objects and ask the location — politely. When unsure, always open with "Bonjour madame/monsieur", add "s'il vous plaît" and "merci", and don't be alarmed by a lively debate — it's a sign of engagement. See you soon in Book 2!
