Weather and seasons Cuaca dan musim
Berbicara tentang cuaca. Bahasa Inggris memakai subjek "boneka" yaitu "it" yang sendirinya tak bermakna: It's hot. It's cold. It's sunny. It's raining. Untuk aksi yang sedang berlangsung tambahkan -ing: It's raining. It's snowing. Untuk bertanya, katakan "What's the weather like?". Bahasa Korea bisa membuang subjek dan hanya menyebut kata sifat, jadi penutur Korea berkata "Is raining" atau "Very cold today"; bahasa Inggris selalu butuh "it": It's raining. It's very cold today.
Dialogue
Is cold or It's cold? — Is cold atau It's cold?
- Emma How's the weather in Seoul today, Minsu? Bagaimana cuaca di Seoul hari ini, Minsu?
- Minsu Is very cold. And is snowing. Sangat dingin. Dan sedang turun salju. (slip: bahasa Inggris butuh subjek boneka "it": "It's very cold. It's snowing."; bahasa Korea boleh membuang subjek, Inggris tidak)
- Emma Start each one with "it": "It's very cold. It's snowing." Awali setiap kalimat dengan "it": "It's very cold. It's snowing."
- Minsu Ah, it's very cold today, and it's snowing. Ah, hari ini sangat dingin, dan sedang turun salju.
Dialogue
What's the weather like here? — Bagaimana cuaca di sini?
- Minsu What's the weather like here in summer? Bagaimana cuaca di sini saat musim panas?
- Emma It's hot and sunny. I love summer. Panas dan cerah. Saya suka musim panas.
- Minsu And in winter? Is it very cold? Kalau musim dingin? Apakah sangat dingin?
- Emma It's cold and it often rains. Bring an umbrella! Dingin dan sering hujan. Bawa payung!

Grammar
It's hot today It's hot today
English weather sentences start with "it" — a subject that fills the slot but points to nothing. For a state, use "it is" ("it's") + adjective: It's hot. It's cold. It's sunny. It's windy. For rain and snow happening now, use "it is" + -ing: It's raining. It's snowing. Add "today", "in summer" or "in winter" to say when: In summer it's hot. In winter it's cold. To ask, use "What's the weather like?" — What's the weather like today? — It's cloudy. Never drop the "it": say "It's raining", not "Is raining".
Kalimat cuaca bahasa Inggris diawali "it" — subjek yang mengisi slot tapi tak menunjuk apa pun. Untuk keadaan, pakai "it is" ("it's") + kata sifat: It's hot. It's cold. It's sunny. It's windy. Untuk hujan dan salju yang sedang turun, pakai "it is" + -ing: It's raining. It's snowing. Tambahkan "today", "in summer" atau "in winter" untuk mengatakan kapan: In summer it's hot. In winter it's cold. Untuk bertanya, pakai "What's the weather like?" — What's the weather like today? — It's cloudy. Jangan pernah membuang "it": katakan "It's raining", bukan "Is raining".
- It's hot and sunny today. Hari ini panas dan cerah.
