What is it? यो / त्यो के हो?
Explanation
यो is "this" (near you), त्यो is "that" (further off). To ask: यो के हो? "What is this?" To answer: यो कलम हो "This is a pen." The question word sits where the answer will go: कलम takes the place of के. हो stays at the end.
Examples
- योकेहो?What is this?
- योकलमहो।This is a pen.
- त्योकेहो?What is that?

Whose? कसको, and होइन "no"
Explanation
कसको means "whose". The answer takes -को: मेरो "mine", तपाईंको "yours", अनिताको "Anita's". होइन is "no, it isn't" — the negative of हो. To ask again, add त "then": कसको हो त? "Whose is it, then?"
Examples
- कसकोकिताबहो?Whose book is it?
- यो तपाईंको झोला हो?Is this your bag?
- होइन, अनिताको हो।No, it's Anita's.
- कसकोहोत?Whose is it, then?
