Explanation
मसँग … छ means "I have it with me" right now: मसँग कलम छ "I have a pen (on me)". To ask: तपाईंसँग कलम छ? If not: मसँग कलम छैन. मेरो … छ means "I own one", wherever it is: मेरो गाडी छ "I have a car" — even if it is in America. Family works this way too: मेरो एउटा भाइ छ.

Explanation
For more than one, add -हरू to the noun: किताबहरू "books", मान्छेहरू "people". The verb is plural too: किताबहरू यहाँ छन् "the books are here". With a number, -हरू is usually left out: पाँच वटा किताब छन् "there are five books".
