Ce l'hai fatta!You made it!
The last chapter is the exam itself, turned into conversation: the seven CILS oral questions — Come ti chiami? Quanti anni hai? Dove vivi? Che cosa fai? Ti piace quello che fai? Fai sport? Come passi il tempo libero? — one by one, with Mike answering on forty-five chapters of Italian. The little connectors (e, ma, o, perché, allora) sew the answers into real discourse. And at the end, the circle closes where everything began: «Io sono Mike» — this time with no mistakes, and with a story behind it.

The grand review — forty-five chapters in one map
Explanation
A1 Italian fits on a five-road map, and you have traveled them all. ROAD ONE, the two engines: essere for identity and states (sono Mike, sono felice), avere for possession and noun-states (ho 25 anni, ho fame) — and in the past they become the auxiliaries: avere for actions on objects, essere for movement, change and piacere, with the agreed participle. ROAD TWO, the article system: il/lo/la with plurals i/gli/le, the fusions (al, del, nel), the frozen article-less pairs (a casa, in centro, and al mare which keeps it instead) and dates with il alone. ROAD THREE, agreement: -o/-a/-i/-e on adjectives, participles and quantifiers (molti alberi, tante persone) — Italian's signature on nearly every word. ROAD FOUR, the present-tense verb: three regular families, the service irregulars (fare, andare, stare, venire), the modals with the bare infinitive, the reflexives with the fronted particle — and the present covering the future too with a time word. ROAD FIVE, the mi family: mi chiamo, mi piace, mi fa male, mi alzo, mi può aiutare — one person, five formulas. The oral's seven questions cross all five roads: that is why answering now feels natural. Welcome to the end of Level One — and to the beginning of everything else.
