English · CEFR Band 1 (A1) · Chapter 22

Prices and paying Harga dan membayar

Menanyakan harga dan membayar: price, dollar, cent, expensive, cheap, how much, pay, cash, card. Tata bahasa inti adalah "How much is …?" untuk satu benda dan "How much are …?" untuk lebih dari satu — bahasa Inggris mengubah kata kerja untuk tunggal dan jamak. Bahasa Korea tak mengubah kata kerja menurut jumlah, jadi penutur Korea sering menyimpan "is": "How much is these bags?" ✗ → "How much are these bags?" ✓. Sudut pengucapan: "dollar", bunyi "ch" pada cheap, dan tekanan pada expensive.

is or are? — is atau are?

  1. Emma Minsu, do you want to buy these bags? Minsu, mau beli tas-tas ini?
  2. Minsu Yes. How much is these bags? Ya. Tas-tas ini berapa? (slip: these bags jamak — pakai "are" → "How much are these bags?")
  3. Emma "These bags" is plural — use "are": How much are these bags? "These bags" jamak — pakai "are": How much are these bags?
  4. Minsu How much are these bags? Tas-tas ini berapa?

At the shop — Di toko

  1. Minsu Hello. How much is this bag? Halo. Tas ini berapa?
  2. Assistant It's fifteen dollars. Lima belas dolar.
  3. Minsu That's cheap. I want to pay by card. Murah. Saya ingin membayar dengan kartu.
  4. Assistant Sure. Here you are. Tentu. Ini dia.

"How much is …?" and "How much are …?" "How much is …?" dan "How much are …?"

To ask a price, say "How much" + is / are + the thing. Use IS for one thing: How much is this bag? — It's ten dollars. Use ARE for two or more: How much are these apples? — They're four dollars. The verb must match: one → is, many → are. It is the same rule as "this is / these are". To answer, use a price with "dollars": It's five dollars. To say how you pay: I want to pay by card / with cash. Korean keeps one form of the verb for any number, so watch the plural — with "these bags" you must say ARE, not is.

Untuk menanyakan harga, ucapkan "How much" + is / are + benda. Pakai IS untuk satu benda: How much is this bag? — It's ten dollars. Pakai ARE untuk dua atau lebih: How much are these apples? — They're four dollars. Kata kerja harus cocok: satu → is, banyak → are. Aturan sama dengan "this is / these are". Jawab dengan harga memakai "dollars": It's five dollars. Katakan cara membayar: I want to pay by card / with cash. Bahasa Korea memakai satu bentuk kata kerja untuk jumlah apa pun, jadi perhatikan jamak — dengan "these bags" harus ARE, bukan is.

  • How much is this? — It's ten dollars. Ini berapa? — Sepuluh dolar.
  • How much are these apples? — They're four dollars. Apel-apel ini berapa? — Empat dolar.
  • This bag is expensive. These bags are cheap. Tas ini mahal. Tas-tas ini murah.
  • I want to pay by card. Saya ingin membayar dengan kartu.
