English · CEFR Band 1 (A1) · Chapter 21

Shopping 쇼핑

사고팔기: shop, store, market, supermarket, money, buy, sell, customer, shop assistant. 핵심 문법은 "want to" + 동사 — I want to buy this, I want to go to the shop. 영어는 "want"와 다음 동사 사이에 작은 낱말 "to"를 둬요. 한국어는 바람을 동사에 바로 붙이니, 한국어 화자는 "to"를 자주 빼요: "I want buy this" ✗ → "I want to buy this" ✓. 발음 코너: shop의 "sh", buy의 이중모음, "want to"의 약한 "to".

I want buy or I want to buy? — I want buy일까 I want to buy일까?

  1. Emma Minsu, what do you want to buy? 민수, 뭐 사고 싶어요?
  2. Minsu I want buy this bag. 이 가방을 사고 싶어요. (실수: want와 동사 사이에 "to" → "I want to buy")
  3. Emma Say "want to": I want to buy this bag. "want to"라고 하세요: I want to buy this bag.
  4. Minsu Oh, I want to buy this bag. It's nice. 아, 이 가방을 사고 싶어요. 예뻐요.

At the market — 시장에서

  1. Minsu Hello. I want to buy some fruit. 안녕하세요. 과일을 좀 사고 싶어요.
  2. Assistant Yes, we sell fruit here. This market is open every day. 네, 여기서 과일을 팔아요. 이 시장은 매일 열어요.
  3. Minsu Good. I want to buy some apples and some bread. 좋아요. 사과와 빵을 좀 사고 싶어요.
  4. Assistant Here you are. Thank you! 여기요. 감사합니다!

Saying what you want: "want to" + verb 하고 싶은 것 말하기: "want to" + 동사

To say what you want to do, use "want" + "to" + a verb: I want to buy this, I want to go to the shop, She wants to sell her car. The small word "to" always sits between "want" and the next verb — never leave it out. (For he / she / it, "want" takes -s: she wants to buy.) Korean joins the wish straight to the verb, so Korean speakers often say "I want buy" — in English you must keep the "to": I want to buy.

하고 싶은 것을 말할 때 "want" + "to" + 동사: I want to buy this, I want to go to the shop, She wants to sell her car. 작은 낱말 "to"는 언제나 "want"와 다음 동사 사이에 있어요 — 절대 빼지 마세요. (he / she / it엔 "want"에 -s: she wants to buy.) 한국어는 바람을 동사에 바로 붙여서 한국어 화자는 "I want buy"라고 자주 해요 — 영어는 "to"를 꼭 남겨요: I want to buy.

  • I want to buy this bag. 이 가방을 사고 싶어요.
  • Do you want to buy some fruit? 과일 좀 사고 싶어요?
  • I want to go to the shop. 가게에 가고 싶어요.
  • She wants to sell her phone. 그녀는 휴대폰을 팔고 싶어 해요.
