English · CEFR Band 1 (A1) · Chapter 21

Shopping Fazer compras

Comprar e vender: shop, store, market, supermarket, money, buy, sell, customer, shop assistant. A gramática-chave é "want to" + um verbo — I want to buy this, I want to go to the shop. O inglês mantém a palavrinha "to" entre "want" e o verbo seguinte. O coreano cola o desejo direto ao verbo, por isso os coreanos costumam omitir o "to": "I want buy this" ✗ → "I want to buy this" ✓. Canto da pronúncia: o "sh" de shop, o ditongo de buy e o "to" fraco de "want to".

I want buy or I want to buy? — I want buy ou I want to buy?

  1. Emma Minsu, what do you want to buy? Minsu, o que queres comprar?
  2. Minsu I want buy this bag. Quero comprar esta mala. (deslize: falta "to" entre want e o verbo → "I want to buy")
  3. Emma Say "want to": I want to buy this bag. Diz "want to": I want to buy this bag.
  4. Minsu Oh, I want to buy this bag. It's nice. Ah, quero comprar esta mala. É bonita.

At the market — No mercado

  1. Minsu Hello. I want to buy some fruit. Olá. Quero comprar alguma fruta.
  2. Assistant Yes, we sell fruit here. This market is open every day. Sim, aqui vendemos fruta. Este mercado abre todos os dias.
  3. Minsu Good. I want to buy some apples and some bread. Bem. Quero comprar algumas maçãs e pão.
  4. Assistant Here you are. Thank you! Aqui está. Obrigada!

Saying what you want: "want to" + verb Dizer o que queres: "want to" + verbo

To say what you want to do, use "want" + "to" + a verb: I want to buy this, I want to go to the shop, She wants to sell her car. The small word "to" always sits between "want" and the next verb — never leave it out. (For he / she / it, "want" takes -s: she wants to buy.) Korean joins the wish straight to the verb, so Korean speakers often say "I want buy" — in English you must keep the "to": I want to buy.

Para dizer o que queres fazer, usa "want" + "to" + verbo: I want to buy this, I want to go to the shop, She wants to sell her car. A palavrinha "to" fica sempre entre "want" e o verbo seguinte — nunca a omitas. (Com he / she / it, "want" leva -s: she wants to buy.) O coreano junta o desejo direto ao verbo, por isso os coreanos costumam dizer "I want buy" — em inglês é preciso manter o "to": I want to buy.

  • I want to buy this bag. Quero comprar esta mala.
  • Do you want to buy some fruit? Queres comprar alguma fruta?
  • I want to go to the shop. Quero ir à loja.
  • She wants to sell her phone. Ela quer vender o telemóvel dela.
