วันในสัปดาห์The days of the week
The days of the week. A day name always starts with "วัน", then a celestial body: วันจันทร์ (moon), วันอังคาร, วันพุธ, วันพฤหัสบดี, วันศุกร์, วันเสาร์, วันอาทิตย์ (sun). English speakers often forget "วัน" and just say "จันทร์" — you must say "วันจันทร์". No word for "on" is needed: just say "วันจันทร์". Ask: "วันนี้วันอะไร". New words: วัน, สัปดาห์, วันจันทร์, วันอังคาร, วันพุธ, วันพฤหัสบดี, วันศุกร์, วันนี้, พรุ่งนี้, สุดสัปดาห์. Pronunciation corner: the tones of "วัน, พุธ, ศุกร์".

Day names = "วัน" + a planet
Explanation
Thai day names always start with "วัน" (day), then a planet name: วันจันทร์ (จันทร์ = moon), วันอังคาร (Mars), วันพุธ (Mercury), วันพฤหัสบดี (Jupiter), วันศุกร์ (Venus), วันเสาร์ (Saturn), วันอาทิตย์ (อาทิตย์ = sun). English speakers often forget "วัน" and just say "จันทร์" — it must be "วันจันทร์". Thai has no word for "on" for a day: just say "วันจันทร์" ("ผมทำงานวันจันทร์"). Ask: "วันนี้วันอะไร". And "เป็น" works with a noun: "วันเสาร์เป็นสุดสัปดาห์".
Examples
- วันนี้วันอะไร — วันนี้วันพุธWhat day is it today? — Today is Wednesday.
- ผมทำงานวันจันทร์ถึงวันศุกร์I work Monday to Friday.
- พรุ่งนี้วันศุกร์ สุดสัปดาห์!Tomorrow is Friday. The weekend!
- วันเสาร์และวันอาทิตย์เป็นสุดสัปดาห์Saturday and Sunday are the weekend.
