Thai · CEFR Band 1 (A1) · Chapter 18
กิจวัตรประจำวันDaily routine
Describing your daily routine. Thai does NOT conjugate verbs and does NOT use "เป็น" before a verb: just say "ผมทำงาน", not "ผมเป็นทำงาน" — English speakers translate "I am working" as "ผมเป็นทำงาน", but "เป็น" goes only before a noun (ผมเป็นครู, I am a teacher). For habits, use the bare verb + "ทุกวัน / ปกติ": "ผมตื่นเจ็ดโมงทุกวัน". New words: ตื่น, นอน, ไปทำงาน, กลับบ้าน, ทำงาน, ทำอาหาร, ทุกวัน, ปกติ, แล้ว, จากนั้น. Pronunciation corner: the tones of "ตื่น, กลับ, ทำ".

Bare verbs (no "เป็น" before a verb)
Explanation
Thai verbs do not change form: "ผมกิน", "เขากิน", "เรากิน" — the same "กิน". For habits, use the bare verb: "ผมตื่นเจ็ดโมง", "ผมทำงาน". IMPORTANT: "เป็น" links only before a noun (ผม เป็น ครู = I am a teacher), NOT before a verb or adjective. English speakers often add "เป็น" thinking of "I AM working" → "ผมเป็นทำงาน" ✗ → "ผมทำงาน" ✓. Use "ทุกวัน / ปกติ" to mark habit. Chain actions with "แล้ว / จากนั้น".
Examples
- ผมตื่นเจ็ดโมงเช้าทุกวันI wake up at 7 a.m. every day.
- ตอนเช้าผมไปทำงานIn the morning I go to work.
- ปกติผมทำอาหารที่บ้านI usually cook at home.
- ผมทำงานแล้วกลับบ้านI work, then go home.
