กิจวัตรประจำวันDaily routine

kìt-cà-wát prà-cam-wan

Routine vocabulary: ตื่น, แปรงฟัน, อาบน้ำ, นอน, เสมอ, บ่อย, บางครั้ง, ไม่ค่อย, ไม่เคย, ทุกวัน. Key grammar: frequency words like "บ่อย" (often) and "เสมอ" (always) go at the END, after the verb (at the end of the sentence) — "ผมตื่นเช้าเสมอ" (I always wake up early), "ผมอ่านหนังสือบ่อย ๆ" (I read often). But "ไม่เคย" (never) and "ไม่ค่อย" (rarely) go BEFORE the verb — "ผมไม่เคยกินเนื้อ" (I never eat meat). English speakers put always/often before the verb, so they tend to say "ผมเสมอตื่นเช้า" ✗ → "ผมตื่นเช้าเสมอ" ✓. Tone corner: บ่อย (low), เสมอ (rising), ทุกวัน.

Frequency words go after the verb

Explanation

Frequency words in Thai are not always before the verb. Words like "บ่อย" (often), "เสมอ" (always), "ทุกวัน" (every day), "บางครั้ง" (sometimes) usually go at the END, after the verb or at the end of the sentence: "ผมตื่นเช้าเสมอ" (I always wake up early), "เธออ่านหนังสือบ่อย ๆ" (she reads often), "เรากินข้าวนอกบ้านบางครั้ง" (we sometimes eat out). But the negative frequency words "ไม่เคย" (never) and "ไม่ค่อย" (rarely) go BEFORE the verb: "ผมไม่เคยกินเนื้อ" (I never eat meat), "เขาไม่ค่อยดูทีวี" (he rarely watches TV). English speakers are used to "I always wake up...", putting always/often before the verb, so they tend to say "ผมเสมอตื่นเช้า" ✗ → the correct form is "ผมตื่นเช้าเสมอ" ✓. Easy rule: บ่อย/เสมอ/ทุกวัน = at the end; ไม่เคย/ไม่ค่อย = at the front.

Examples

  • ผมตื่นเช้าเสมอI always wake up early.
  • เธออ่านหนังสือบ่อย ๆShe reads often.
  • ผมไม่เคยกินเนื้อI never eat meat.
  • เรากินข้าวนอกบ้านบางครั้งWe sometimes eat out.
