Older and younger:

Explanation

Nepali has separate words for older and younger siblings: दाइ "older brother" and दिदी "older sister", भाइ "younger brother" and बहिनी "younger sister". Someone older than you gets the respectful verb: उहाँ मेरी दिदी हुनुहुन्छ "she is my older sister". Someone younger gets the plain one: यो मेरो भाइ हो "this is my younger brother". Parents get respect too:

Examples

He is my older brother.
  • योyoमेmeरोroभाbhāइiहोho।This is my younger brother.
She is my older sister.
This is my younger sister.
