Key grammar: ask a price with "Cái này bao nhiêu tiền?" — the subject comes first, the question phrase "bao nhiêu tiền" goes at the end. Grammar
Hỏi giá: "… bao nhiêu tiền?" Asking a price: "… bao nhiêu tiền?"
Để hỏi giá, đặt vật lên trước rồi thêm cụm hỏi ở cuối: "Cái này bao nhiêu tiền?" (Cái này = the thing; bao nhiêu tiền = how much money). Chủ ngữ giữ nguyên vị trí đầu câu — tiếng Việt KHÔNG đưa từ hỏi lên đầu. Người nói tiếng Anh quen "How much is this?" nên hay nói "Bao nhiêu cái này?" — sai trật tự. Đúng: "Cái này bao nhiêu tiền?". Trả lời: số + đồng hoặc nghìn — "Năm mươi nghìn đồng". Khen giá: "Đắt quá!" (đắt) hay "Rẻ đấy" (rẻ).
To ask a price, put the item first, then add the question phrase at the end: "Cái này bao nhiêu tiền?" (Cái này = the thing; bao nhiêu tiền = how much money). The subject keeps its place at the front — Vietnamese does NOT move the question word to the front. English speakers, used to "How much is this?", often say "Bao nhiêu cái này?" — wrong order. Correct: "Cái này bao nhiêu tiền?". Answer: number + đồng or nghìn — "Năm mươi nghìn đồng". React to a price: "Đắt quá!" (expensive) or "Rẻ đấy" (cheap).
