A bowl of, a plate of: 碗, 碟
Explanation
For an amount of food, the container is the measure word: 一碗麵 "a bowl of noodles", 一碟飯 "a plate of rice", like 一杯茶 "a cup of tea" in chapter 12. Number + measure word + food: 兩碗飯 "two bowls of rice", 一碟菜 "a plate of vegetables". 呢 and 嗰 take the measure word too: 呢碟水果 "this plate of fruit", 嗰碗粥 "that bowl of congee". To ask the price: 呢碟飯幾多錢呀? "how much is this plate of rice?".
Examples
- 兩碗粥,唔該。Two bowls of congee, please.
- 呢碟飯幾多錢呀?How much is this plate of rice?
- 一碟菜,一碗麵。A plate of vegetables and a bowl of noodles.

What you don't do: 唔 + verb
Explanation
唔 before a verb says what you do not do as a rule: 我唔食牛肉 "I don't eat beef", 佢唔飲咖啡 "she doesn't drink coffee". To ask whether someone does something, use verb + 唔 + verb: 你食唔食牛肉呀? "do you eat beef?". The answer is 食 or 唔食. 都 says you do both: 豬肉、雞都食 "pork and chicken, I eat both".
Examples
- 佢唔飲咖啡。She doesn't drink coffee.
- 你飲唔飲茶呀?我唔飲。Do you drink tea? I don't.
- 佢哋唔食豬肉。They don't eat pork.
