The future tense (Futur I): „werden“ + infinitive. „Ich werde reisen“, „Wir werden lernen“. The conjugated „werden“ stands in position 2, the infinitive goes to the end. Talk about your plans: tomorrow, next year, one day.

The future (Futur I): werden + infinitive at the end
Explanation
To talk about the future, German uses the verb „werden“ + an infinitive. „werden“ is conjugated (ich werde, du wirst, er/sie wird, wir werden, ihr werdet, sie werden) and stands — like every second verb — in position 2. The infinitive goes to the END of the sentence, exactly as with the modal verbs from chapter 21. So: „Ich werde Deutsch lernen“, „Morgen werde ich reisen“, „Wir werden bald beginnen“. After a time expression there is inversion (chapter 30): „Nächstes Jahr werde ich nach Berlin reisen“. Tip: in everyday life, for the near future people often simply use the present with a time expression: „Morgen lerne ich Deutsch“ — that is also correct. Typical mistake: in English the verb comes right after „will“ („I will learn German“), so English speakers put the infinitive right behind „werde“: „Ich werde lernen Deutsch“ ✗. In German „werden … infinitive“ forms a bracket, and the infinitive comes at the end: „Ich werde Deutsch lernen“ ✓.
