English · CEFR Band 1 (A1) · Chapter 38

I'll do it!

词汇:plan、holiday、decide、promise、maybe、probably、suitcase、airport、arrive、sure。核心语法:"will" 和 "be going to"。第30课你学过 "be going to" 用于已决定的计划("I'm going to visit my family")或从所见做出的预测("Look at the clouds — it's going to rain")。"Will"(I'll、won't)不同:它是说话当下做的决定、提议或承诺:"The phone's ringing — I'll get it"、"I'll help you"、"I'll pay you back tomorrow"。 I think it will rain"。学习者常在需要即兴 "will" 时用 "be going to":"The phone's ringing — I'm going to get it" ✗ → "I'll get it" ✓。

I'm going to get it or I'll get it? — I'm going to get it 还是 I'll get it?

  1. Emma Oh, the doorbell is ringing.
  2. Minsu I'm going to open it. (口误:这是此刻做的决定,用 "will"——"I'll open it")
  3. Emma Since you're deciding right now, use "will": "I'll open it." "Be going to" is for plans you made before. 因为你是此刻决定的,用 "will":"I'll open it."。"Be going to" 用于事先做好的计划。
  4. Minsu I see. I'll open it! … Oh, it's the post. And look — it's going to rain, the sky is grey.
  5. Emma Perfect — "it's going to rain" is right there, because you can see the evidence in the sky.
  6. Minsu Then I'll take an umbrella. I won't get wet this time!

Holiday plans —

  1. Jack What are you going to do on your holiday, Emma? Emma,
  2. Emma I'm going to fly to Italy. I've already booked the flight and packed my suitcase!
  3. Jack Nice! When do you arrive?
  4. Emma On Saturday morning. Oh — my phone's ringing. I'll call you back later, okay?
  5. Jack Sure. Have a great trip! I'm sure you'll love Italy.

"will" 与 "be going to"

Explanation

"will" 和 "be going to" 都谈未来,但用在不同时刻。已决定(说话前就定好)的计划用 "be going to"(第30课):"I'm going to visit my family next week"(票已订);基于眼前所见的预测也用它:"Look at those clouds — it's going to rain"。说话当下做的决定用 "will"(I'll、you'll、won't):"The phone's ringing — I'll get it";提议:"That bag looks heavy — I'll carry it";承诺:"I'll pay you back tomorrow, I promise"。带 "I think / I'm sure" 的看法和预测也常用 "will":"I think it will be sunny"、"She won't be late"。 学习者常把即兴选择说成 "be going to":"Someone's at the door — I'm going to open it" ✗ → "I'll open it" ✓。

Examples

  • The phone's ringing. — I'll get it!
  • I'm going to visit my family next week. My ticket is already booked.
  • That suitcase looks heavy. I'll carry it for you.
  • I think it will rain tomorrow, so maybe we won't go to the beach.
