The days: 今日星期幾？

Explanation

Monday to Saturday are 星期 + a number: 星期一 Monday, 星期二 Tuesday … 星期六 Saturday. Sunday has no number: 星期日. To ask: 今日星期幾？ "what day is it today?" 幾 sits where the number goes; answer by putting the number back: 今日星期一 "today is Monday". 星期 has an everyday twin, 禮拜: 禮拜六 "Saturday", 禮拜日 "Sunday".

Going to work and finishing: 返工, 放工

Explanation

返工 is going to work. 返 means "go back": you go back every day to the same place, as to work. 放工 is finishing work and being free to leave. 放 means "let go". The time goes in front, as in chapter 16: 九點返工 "go to work at nine", 六點放工 "finish at six". To ask: 你幾點返工？ 你幾點放工？
