Memberikan hadiah kepada temanGiving a gift to a friend
We talk about celebrations and gifts. Vocabulary: ulang tahun, pesta, hadiah, kartu, buket bunga, kue tar, lilin, tamu, memberikan, menerima, mengucapkan selamat, merayakan. Key grammar: how to give and receive. "memberikan + [thing] + kepada + [person]" = give something to someone: "Saya memberikan hadiah kepada ibu" (I give a gift to my mother). The receiver is marked with "kepada" — the same word from ch40. Watch the suffix "-kan": when the thing is placed first (before "kepada"), the verb is "memberiKAN", not "memberi". Explanation
"memberikan" means "to give something (to someone)". The clear order is "memberikan + [thing] + kepada + [person]": "Saya memberikan hadiah kepada ibu" (thing = gift, receiver = mother). The receiver is marked with "kepada" — the same word you learned in ch40 ("mengirim pesan kepada Budi", send a message to Budi). Important: when the thing is placed first (before "kepada"), the verb takes the suffix "-kan": "memberiKAN".
