Vamos ao cinema? Shall we go to the cinema?
Making plans and inviting. Vocabulary: o plano, o convite, convidar, viajar, a festa, o cinema, combinar, juntos, livre, talvez. Key point: the near future is "ir + infinitive", WITHOUT a preposition: "Vou viajar" (I am going to travel), "Ela vai estudar", "Nós vamos comer". English speakers (from "going TO") and Spanish speakers (from "ir A") insert an "a" — "Vou a viajar" ✗ → "Vou viajar" ✓. To invite, you use "Vamos + infinitive?" (= let's): "Vamos ao cinema?" (Shall we go to the cinema?), "Vamos assistir a um filme?", or the informal "Bora?". You accept with "Vamos!", "Combinado!" (Deal!); you decline with "Hoje não posso, talvez amanhã" (I can't today, maybe tomorrow). Pronunciation corner: the "j" with a "zh" sound (juntos, viajar), the "nh" and the "-ã" of "amanhã".
