Places in town Lugares na cidade
Lugares e onde ficam: place, school, hospital, bank, station, park, next to, behind, in front of, near. A gramática-chave é "Where is …?" e responder com uma preposição de lugar: The bank is next to the shop. Em inglês o verbo "is" vem logo após o sujeito: bank + IS + next to the shop. O coreano põe o verbo no fim, por isso os coreanos dizem "The bank next to the shop is" ✗ → "The bank is next to the shop" ✓. Canto da pronúncia: "hospital", o "-tion" de station e a ligação de "next to".
Dialogue
Where does "is" go? — Onde vai "is"?
- Emma Minsu, where is the bank? Minsu, onde é o banco?
- Minsu The bank the shop next to is. O banco ao lado da loja está. (deslize: o coreano põe o verbo no fim — em inglês "The bank is next to the shop")
- Emma In English, "is" comes after the bank: The bank is next to the shop. Em inglês, "is" vem depois de the bank: The bank is next to the shop.
- Minsu The bank is next to the shop. O banco fica ao lado da loja.
Dialogue
Where is everything? — Onde fica tudo?
- Minsu Emma, where is the hospital? Emma, onde é o hospital?
- Emma It's near the station. The bank is next to it. Fica perto da estação. O banco fica ao lado dele.
- Minsu And the park? Where is it? E o parque? Onde fica?
- Emma The park is behind the school. O parque fica atrás da escola.

Grammar
"Where is …?" and place words "Where is …?" e palavras de lugar
To ask where something is, say "Where is" + the place: Where is the bank? To answer, put the subject first, then IS, then the place word: The bank is next to the shop. Other place words: behind (The park is behind the school), in front of (The station is in front of the hospital), near (The bank is near the park). The important thing is word order: subject + is + place. Korean puts the verb at the very end ("The bank the shop next to is"), so in English remember to bring "is" up right after the subject.
Para perguntar onde algo está, diz "Where is" + o lugar: Where is the bank? Para responder, põe o sujeito primeiro, depois IS, depois a palavra de lugar: The bank is next to the shop. Outras palavras: behind (The park is behind the school), in front of (The station is in front of the hospital), near (The bank is near the park). O importante é a ordem: sujeito + is + lugar. O coreano põe o verbo no fim ("The bank the shop next to is"), por isso em inglês lembra-te de trazer "is" logo após o sujeito.
