Explanation
四个小词能把两个想法连成一个句子。"and" 添加相似的想法："I like tea and coffee"、"She reads and writes"。"but" 表示对比："I like tea but not coffee"、"It is small but comfortable"。"or" 给出选择："Tea or coffee?"、"We can walk or take the bus"。"so" 表示结果——它位于原因和结果之间："It was late, so I went home"（原因 + so + 结果）。"because" 给出原因——它位于原因之前："I went home because it was late"（结果 + because + 原因）。所以 "so" 和 "because" 从两端描述同一情况：你可以说 "I was tired, so I slept" 或 "I slept because I was tired"，原因和结果的顺序会颠倒。两条规则：(1) 每个连接只用一个连接词——不要同时用 "because" 和 "so"；(2) 写作时，当 "but" 和 "so" 连接两个完整句子时，通常在它们前面加逗号。注意：很多学习者照母语同时标记原因和结果："Because I was tired, so I slept" ✗。只留一个："I slept because I was tired" ✓ 或 "I was tired, so I slept" ✓。
