Poder + 不定式：能力、可能、许可

Explanation

In Brazil, almost everything goes through WhatsApp ("o zap"): family, friends, work, the doctor and even the corner shop. You arrange the party, book the appointment and do business there. And there is a very striking habit: voice notes. Instead of typing, many people prefer to "mandar um áudio" (send a voice note) — sometimes very short, sometimes several minutes long. Do not be surprised if someone answers a simple question with a long voice note; it is normal and warm. You can reply the same way or in writing: "Prefiro por escrito, pode ser?" (I prefer it in writing, is that OK?) is always polite.

预付费手机与「移动优先」

Many people in Brazil do not have a monthly plan: they use "pré-pago" (prepaid), that is, they top up when they can ("vou pôr uma recarga", I'll add some credit). So the phone — not the computer — is the main door to the internet. People talk about being "mobile-first": apps, banks and services are designed first for the small screen. Data is precious, so a lot happens "no wi-fi" at home, at work or at the café. Do not be surprised by questions like "Tem wi-fi aqui?" (Is there wi-fi here?) or "Qual é a senha do wi-fi?" (What is the wi-fi password?) — they are among the most useful phrases you can learn.

用手机付款：PIX

In Brazil, "PIX" changed the way people pay. It is an instant transfer by phone, free and at any time, between people or shops — you just need the "chave PIX" (the PIX key: your phone, e-mail or CPF tax number). You hear a lot of "Você tem PIX?" (Do you have PIX?), "Me passa a sua chave" (Give me your key), "Faço um PIX agora" (I'll do a PIX now). From the street market to the restaurant, it is common to pay this way, without cash or card. In Portugal, the similar habit is "MB WAY". You do not need to master all this yet; just recognising the words keeps you from being lost when someone says "pode ser no PIX?" (can it be by PIX?).
