Ever done it: verb + 過
Explanation
過 after a verb means you have done it at some time, once or more: 我去過澳門 "I've been to Macau". Ask with verb + 過 + … + 未呀?: 你去過澳門未呀? "have you ever been to Macau?". Answer 去過 "I have", or 未去過 "never yet". Like 咗 and 緊, 過 goes straight after the verb.
Examples
- 我食過叉燒包。I've had barbecued pork buns.
- 你飲過奶茶未呀?Have you ever had milk tea?
- 佢未搭過船。She's never been on a boat.

"Can" (know how to): 識 + verb
Explanation
識 + a verb means you have learned how, so you can: 我識講廣東話 "I can speak Cantonese", 佢識讀中文 "she can read Chinese". Ask with 識唔識 + verb: 你識唔識講英文呀? "can you speak English?". The answer is 識 or 唔識. 識 also means knowing a person: 我識阿明 "I know Ah Ming".
Examples
- 你識唔識講普通話呀?Can you speak Mandarin?
- 佢識講英文。He can speak English.
- 我唔識寫中文。I can't write Chinese.
