"Didn't": 冇 + verb
Explanation
To say something did not happen, use 冇 + verb: 你冇嚟 "you didn't come", 我冇睇手機 "I didn't look at my phone", 阿明今日冇返工 "Ah Ming didn't go to work today". 冇 is the negative of 咗: 我返咗工 "I went to work", 我冇返工 "I didn't go to work". After 冇 + verb, no 咗. Three negatives: 唔 for what you don't do as a rule (我唔食牛肉); 未 for "not yet" (我未食); 冇 for "didn't" (我冇食).

- 我尋日冇返工。I didn't go to work yesterday.
- 佢冇食早餐。She didn't have breakfast.
- 我哋一年冇見！We haven't seen each other for a year!

Remember and forget: 記得, 唔記得
Explanation
記得 + a verb means "remember to do it": 記得叫我！ "remember to ask me!", 聽日記得打電話 "remember to call tomorrow". 唔記得 + a verb means "forget to", so it didn't get done: 我唔記得打電話俾屋企 "I forgot to call home". To ask: 你記唔記得呀？ "do you remember?". Only the first character repeats, as in 開唔開心.
