แผนและการชวนPlans and invitations
Planning vocabulary: แผน, สุดสัปดาห์, ว่าง, ยุ่ง, ด้วยกัน, ชวน, จะ, เถอะ, กัน, นัด. Key grammar: talk about the future with "จะ + verb" — "ผมจะไป" (I will go) — and invite with "กัน" at the end of the verb, plus "เถอะ" or "ไหม" — "ไปดูหนังกันไหม" (shall we go to a movie?). English speakers, used to "Let's..." at the front, tend to forget the "กัน...เถอะ/ไหม" at the end — it then sounds blunt, like an order. A gentle invitation ends with "กัน" + "เถอะ/ไหม". Tone corner: ว่าง vs ยุ่ง (both falling).

Future "จะ" and inviting with "กัน...เถอะ/ไหม"
Explanation
Two tools for making plans. One, the future: put "จะ" before the verb — "ผมจะไป" (I will go), "สุดสัปดาห์นี้ผมจะไปเชียงใหม่" (this weekend I will go to Chiang Mai). "จะ" sits right before the verb and nothing changes form. Two, the invitation: add "กัน" at the end of the verb to mean "do it together", then close with "เถอะ" (let's) or "ไหม" (shall we?) — "ไปกินข้าวกันเถอะ" (let's go eat), "ไปดูหนังกันไหม" (shall we go to a movie?). English speakers, used to "Let's" at the front, often say a blunt "เราไปดูหนัง" (we go to a movie), forgetting "กัน...ไหม/เถอะ" — it sounds like an order. A gentle invitation ends with "กัน" + "เถอะ/ไหม". To accept: "ได้" (okay) or "ไปสิ" (let's go). To decline softly: "ขอโทษ วันนี้ยุ่ง" (sorry, I'm busy today).
Examples
- สุดสัปดาห์นี้ผมจะไปเชียงใหม่This weekend I will go to Chiang Mai.
- คุณว่างไหม ไปกินข้าวกันไหมAre you free? Shall we go and eat together?
- ไปดูหนังกันเถอะLet's go and watch a movie.
- ขอโทษ วันนี้ผมยุ่งSorry, I'm busy today.
